As we visited Denver, also called the Mile High City before, we now use it as a gateway to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the United States. For this purpose, the Westin Denver International Airport Hotel is the perfect place to stay. With its stunning location, luxurious accommodations, and world-class amenities, this hotel offers the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, several art pieces and style.

The Westin Denver International Airport Hotel is connected on two sides, to the airport on one side through an outdoor courtyard and on the other side to a transportation center. The hotel is in the middle of the prairies, 40 kilometers east of downtown Denver. A train departs every 15 minutes to Union Station, the city's main train station. As we step into the Sky Lobby, we are greeted by its ultra-modern design that resembles a spaceship with its curved lines, geometric lighting and wall of glass. The common area is sleek and white with two standout green living walls. This clean and tidy feeling extends throughout the entire hotel, which is distinguished by striking interior artwork and captivating outdoor art installations dedicated to Colorado. There are large windows throughout the hotel where you can watch the sunset over the Rocky Mountains and the sunrise on the plains.

Reflections

We stay at one of the standard rooms which offers two queen size beds which works perfectly fine. Overlooking the tent like structure of the airport it adds something like a futuristic feel to it all. Each of the rooms and suites is designed with a classic and elegant decor, and they are all equipped with the latest technology and amenities such as a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and a coffee maker. The suites are even more luxurious, with separate living areas, king-size beds and spacious bathrooms with spa-like amenities.

For dining, we visit Grill & Vine, the hotel's all-day dining restaurant with a grayscale decor. The menu offers classic American dishes like schnitzel, chicken breast, and steak, as well as unique salads and sides like caramelized Brussels sprouts. During breakfast, we sample the hotel's "Superfoods" such as oatmeal, quinoa breakfast salad, and yogurt parfait, or opt for egg dishes and pancakes.

In the warmer months, we can enjoy cocktails on the patios surrounding the restaurant or head to the Sky Lounge in the lobby for light meals and drinks. The hotel also has a Starbucks pastry coffee shop called Ingredients. For those who prefer to dine in the comfort of their own room: the hotel also offers a kids' menu and 24-hour room service. The Sky Lounge has a full bar and serves up specialty cocktails, along with a menu of small bites, tapas, and sandwiches.

Outside, there is a large area of artificial grass on the second floor of the airport that looks and feels like a well-manicured lawn. Here, bands play lively music and vendors sell food and drinks, making it a fun and unique space for everyone to enjoy.
