You can count yourself lucky if you get the chance to visit the 5-star resort, Alila Seminyak, on Bali. A stunning, modern resort: architecture and décor with accented by high-quality furnishings. Apart from a beautiful beachfront experience, it also has a lush secret garden; with a distinctive blend of contemporary architecture woven through with vertical greens, wall-hugging plants, green roofs and landscaped terraces. At the same time, the resort is committed to minimising its environmental footprint. The resort is situated at the most perfect location in the city of Seminyak, right on the beach.
Relaxing with an oceanview
The entire staff is truly caring, attentive and dedicated. They continuously go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and fully enjoying our your stay. The hotel is well-known for its personal check-in, making you feel right at home from the very first moment of arrival. What’s more, you even have your own ‘head host’.
There is much more hustle and bustle going on over here compared to our stay at its sister resort, Alila Uluwatu. When we were at Alila Seminyak, it was fully booked and so we saw a lot of other guests all around the place. However, we were treated as if we were the only ones around. Although this hotel is less peaceful, it is certainly better equipped for children. They have a great kids club, Play Alila, that’s open from 7.00 am till 9.00 pm!

The ‘cool’ large open reception area with vertical gardens, modern art display and a vintage VW Kombi shuttle van give the hotel an arty look. We didn’t expect this, but we instantly fell in love with it. We also really love the fresh coffee made by one of the in-house baristas.
As for the rooms and suites, they are all large, spacious and modern with amazing, ultra-comfortable bathrooms. You can choose between a room or a suite. The Superior Rooms are an ideal choice for those wanting to soak up the local buzz. The Deluxe rooms are for adults only. The Suites are perfect for families having more than one child. The Beach Suites are situated in the heart of the hotel, only steps away from the beach and the resort’s facilities. The garden can be admired from the Deluxe Garden Suites and you can enjoy the sunset from the Ocean Suites. The Penthouse even has three bedrooms and a private pool. The resort provides housekeeping service twice a day. There is attention to detail in every room. And they provide a capsule espresso machine for guests who want to make their own coffee.
We enjoyed the open-air restaurant with stunning views of the ocean. Here, guests can savour the delights of shared dining with the charms of a wood fire. Or, let the children play at the kids club a little longer and arrange a romantic dinner for two on the beach.
You can see sunsets to die for from their several stunning infinity pools and their beach bar and restaurant. Each morning, you can take a yoga class to start the day fresh.
They have aleisure concierges who organises trips for guests to explore Bali by offering them unique encounters with the island’s nature, culture and customs. Guests can choose from a range of trips, the so-called Alila Experiences: Scenic Cycle Tour, Inspirational Bali, Rom-Antique Roadshow, Follow in Aphrodite’s footsteps, Sensational Retail Therapy (haven’t tried that, but it definitely sounds intriguing…) and Divine Healing.
The VW on tour
The city of Seminyak has become one of Bali’s trendiest scenes. There are plenty of things to do. It’s great for surfing as the beaches are among the best on the whole of Bali. The busy streets are full of shops, dining opportunities and notable nightlife. Seminyak is also a great base for exploring Bali’s hotspots, lush landscapes and cultural gems, from Uluwatu Temple in the south to Tanah Lot Temple in the north, to the beautiful rice terraces everywhere around the island.
Still, you don’t need to go far to see a temple since Alila Seminyak even has its very own right next to the restaurant. Great for our kids too, who love to visit temples.
