A few days in the city? Chiang Mai Villa is perfect to explore Chiang Mai and surroundings. This six-bedroom holiday villa offers the luxury of space and tranquility and a private swimming pool - yet it is only ten minutes from the city center. The lounge, dining and kitchen area leads out through a covered terrace to the pool. This is a lovely place to laze away the days or at which to gather around a barbecue in the evenings. Our kids also liked the colorful fishes in the ponds and as animal lovers they were happy to find snails and little lizards everywhere.

The Chiang Mai villa is settled in a residential and sports complex. This means that you can enjoy unlimited access to the private park that boasts a jogging track, a children's play area, a sports club that has its own additional Olympic size swimming pool, a toddler’s pool, tennis courts, gymnasium, sauna and bar.

We rented the villa including a car and were therefore free to go out. In our opinion Chiang Mai, is little Bangkok without the smog and it has a more intimate atmosphere. It is a diverse city that blends history, modernity and culture. We enjoyed the old temples, the ruins, but also the excellent shopping facilities for example.

You might take the golden opportunity to enjoy one of the many Thai cooking lessons, or learn from doing by watching the Thai chef. He can be arranged to shop for you, and cool delicious Thai meals should you not want to cook yourself. A good alternative is to visit one of Chiang Mai's many Thai and international restaurants.

All the bedrooms of this Chiang Mai villa have king size beds and large en-suite bathrooms. The house is comfortable and cools off just right, which is rather pleasant with the tropical temperatures in Thailand. The kitchen is well equipped and has its own exit. So, when the chef was around, he didn’t bother our privacy at all. Also, there’s a separate little house where the maid and babysitter can sleep.

We rented this villa on a combined basis with the Doi Luang Mountain View villa in Chiang Dao from the same owner. Allthough it's not that far from Chiang Dao to Chiang Mai. But it's really great to spend time in the city itself without having to drive long (with kids!). The Mountain villa offers the countryside to enjoy all that the northern part of the province of Chiang Mai has to offer. In this part, you will also find the elephant training farms or camps, the hot springs baths and great trekking's in the mountains.

An absolute highlight are the markets, including the renowned Thai handicraft and furniture markets at Baan Tawai. For the more sporting activities you'll be able to find golfing, bungee jumping, go-karting, zip line canopy tours, cycling tours and more! For more youngers kids: our kids loved the Chiang Mai Zoo, where else can you find a place where you can feed bananas to the giraffes themselves and kiss an elephant?
